Women's 5km Walk/Run 2026

It's that time again...

This now marks my third attempt to run a 5k.... ever.
In an office full of marathon runners, cycling legends, yoga enthusiasts and generally fit people, I tend to stick out a bit as 'guy who complains about walking up the stairs to my desk after a client appointment'.

But for the past three years, I've given this particular run my best (albeit small) efforts. And that's because it also gives me the opportunity to raise some funds for the Cancer Council, which at this point in my life I basically donate to as a secondary form of health insurance.
Both  of my parents, many of my close relatives, and several friends so close they might as well be family have fought cancer.
Some made it. Some didn't. I'll tell some of those stories here through the next two months, I guess.

The work that the Cancer Council does is really important - not just the research that they fund, but the support they give to patients and their loved ones, and the community advocacy that they do to raise awareness for early checks that save lives.

Anyway, I think that's enough rambling for the first blog. Thank you to everyone for your support so far.
