What is the registration fee?

This $25 does also count towards your total fundraising tally.

Why did Cancer Council go virtual this year rather than postpone the event until later in the year?

Your health and wellbeing is important to us; going virtual means that you can continue to train, get outside and engage in some physical activity now. The future of social gatherings is very uncertain and therefore we made the decision to go virtual this year. We hope to hold a physical event again once social distancing restrictions are no longer necessary.

Why does a virtual event have a registration fee if I’m just running by myself?

Even running a virtual event, there are some costs involved, such as the website... but more importantly, your $25 registration goes towards your fundraising tally, and therefore also partially goes towards providing the support and prevention services, as well as transport2treatment, that Cancer Council Tasmania proudly continues to deliver.

Will there be a physical event in 2021?

We hope so! We intend on returning back to a physical event in 2021 if physical distancing restrictions are lifted.

Do I get a free t-shirt?

You sure can earn one! Just be one of the first 200 people to raise a minimum of $200 and you will earn a Women’s 5km Walk/Run t-shirt to wear proudly!

Will I get a medallion?

Yes! Every single participant will receive a letter of appreciation and cool Women’s 5km Walk/Run medallion for participating in the event.

My company is keen to support - can they become a sponsor?

We welcome any support and therefore suggest you contact our Event Manager, Melanie Knight (mknight@cancertas.org.au) for further information.

Can only women participate?

We welcome participants of all genders, ages, backgrounds and levels of fitness. The Women’s 5km is all about raising vital funds for Cancer Council Tasmania to reduce the incidents and impact of cancer on any Tasmanian. Do it for your mum, sister, aunt, step-mum, grandma, colleague, best friend... Do It For Her.

Is there an age limit to participate?

No - if you can walk or run or be pushed in pram or wheel chair, you are welcome to join in! Please note that in accordance with legislation, there are restrictions around fundraising. Please review the T&C’s for more details.

Are there any concessions on the registration fee?

No, it is one flat fee of $25 for everyone.

Do I need to run?

No, you can walk your 5km too! It’s completely up to you and based on your fitness level if you want to walk or run this 5km event.

Is the t-shirt one-size-fits-all?

No. Whether you purchase a t-shirt or earn one by raising $200, you will be able to select your size.

Will the t-shirt be posted to me?

You can choose, however you will need to cover the costs of postage. Otherwise, you can pick up your t-shirt at one of our Cancer Council offices across the state in Sandy Bay, Launceston or Devonport.

Do I have to register my training kilometres?

No, however we do encourage you to. Our transport2treatment cars drove a total of 269,000 km in 2019 and we challenge the Women’s 5km community to match these kilometres with your training kilometres!

When do I need to walk/run?

The official Women’s 5km Walk/Run will go from Friday the 11th of September until Sunday the 13th of September. We encourage you to complete your 5km walk/run any time over these days.

If you aren't able to get your 5kms in by 13th September, and want to log your training later, let us know and we can update your page for you.
