On Sunday, 13 Sept, I’m pulling on my runners and doing the 5K Fun Run for Cancer Council Tasmania
This one is pretty personal.
My beautiful mum has faced cancer three times over the past eight years, and this week she finished her latest course of treatment. She’s been an absolute trooper, and Cancer Council Tasmania has been one of the organisations there to support her along the way.
What many people won’t know is that 2025 threw me a huge curveball too. I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer and went through surgery and chemotherapy. Almost exactly 12 months ago, I finished my final round of chemo.
So 12 months on, to be doing well and able to run it with my daughter & some dear friend by my side feels pretty special
I’m not doing this for sympathy. Cancer touches far too many families, and sometimes life hands you lemons you absolutely did not order. Having somewhere to turn when it does matters.
So on Sunday 13th, I’ll be running for Mum, a little bit for me, and for everyone who has needed Cancer Council Tasmania in their corner.
